Immigrants Power (2025)
A public art project celebrating immigrant strength, resilience, and cultural identity.
East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN
The Lake Street LIFT Utility Box Art Project transforms utility boxes along East Lake Street into visual expressions of cultural pride, resilience, and hope. Created in response to the impact of the 2020 civil unrest, the project reactivates a key corridor through accessible, street-level public art.
This series includes ten original designs, each representing a different facet of immigrant power: resilience, vision, passion, growth, family, and culture. Installed at key intersections, the works function as both public art and cultural markers within the community.
The visual language draws from bold color, symbolic imagery, and storytelling rooted in Latinx cultural traditions, while connecting to universal themes of belonging, transformation, and unity.
From concept through installation, the project reflects a commitment to creating culturally grounded public art that honors the communities of East Lake Street and contributes to its ongoing revitalization.
