Wings of Resilience (2024)
A public sculpture exploring memory, resilience, and cultural continuity.
Mercado Central, Minneapolis, MN

Located at Mercado Central on East Lake Street, a long-standing hub for Latino-owned businesses, food, and cultural exchange, this 15-foot-tall sculpture uses a visual language rooted in Mexican traditions and symbolic pattern to establish a strong vertical presence within the site.

The skull form references memory, ancestry, and the challenges carried across generations, while the dove introduces a gesture of peace, hope, and collective forward movement. Together, these elements reflect a community shaped by resilience, unity, and cultural continuity.

Material, scale, and form work together to create a landmark element within the corridor, engaging both pedestrian and vehicular audiences. Positioned within a neighborhood defined by decades of immigration, entrepreneurship, and cultural expression, the piece reflects the enduring spirit of the Mexican community in Minnesota.
