Supported by the McKnight Foundation
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Mexican artist Luis Fitch has been selected as a 2025 Mid-Career Project Grantee by Forecast Public Art! His project, Art for Community, will bring vibrant public art to six utility boxes along East Lake Street, celebrating local culture and enhancing the urban landscape.
Each year, Forecast awards grants to a diverse group of artists working in public art, supporting independent projects, professional development, and innovative approaches. In 2025, $86,000 in funding will support thirteen artists whose work fosters community connection, cultural pride, and creative problem-solving through a variety of media, including murals, illustration, sculpture, and sound installations.
Luis’s project aligns with Forecast’s mission of uplifting underrepresented voices and transforming public spaces through art. By engaging with local residents and business owners, Art for Community will not only beautify the neighborhood but also foster a stronger sense of belonging and cultural representation.
About the Forecast Grant Program
The Forecast early- and mid-career grants are the only public art grants in the country that fund self-initiated artist projects, rather than requiring artists to respond to a call. Forecast prioritizes supporting BIPOC and Native artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, artists from rural communities, and other historically excluded groups.
Stay Tuned for More!
We are excited to bring this project to life and invite the community to take part in this creative transformation.
